Blind health care and Recipes: abusing certain Chinese herbal medicines to cause drug-induced hepatitis

Xinhua news agency, Beijing, July 28 (reporter Lin Miaomiao, Bao Xiaojing) "is medicine three points poison", and health products are not drugs, some people think that health products "want to eat", no need to worry about side effects. Doctors suggest that many health care products contain Chinese herbal extracts, and some Chinese herbs, such as Polygonum multiflorum, will lead to serious diseases such as drug hepatitis, liver damage and even liver failure, which should be paid attention to.

In recent years, there are many cases of liver damage caused by Chinese herbal medicines such as Polygonum multiflorum Thunb. According to the director of the liver disease Institute of Peking University and Wei Lai, director of the liver disease department of Peking University People's Hospital, many studies at home and abroad believe that about 20% to 30% of the drug induced liver damage are caused by Chinese herbal medicine.

Yang Ming, deputy director of the Department of liver disease, Peking University People's Hospital, said that some of the most serious cases of liver disease and death were caused by the abuse of the folk prescription, the abuse of Chinese herbal medicine or the overdose and super course of Chinese herbal medicine. In addition, many Chinese herbal medicines that cause liver damage are over-the-counter drugs, some of which lack a clear description of the toxicity, causing the patients and even the drug practitioners to not know the risk of liver damage in Chinese herbal medicine.

Wei Lai and other experts suggest that the common Chinese herbal medicines that lead to liver damage are Polygonum multiflorum, Psoralea, corydalis, rhubarb, Jue Mingzi, Radix Aconiti, soil 37, Tripterygium wilfordii, xanthate and so on. The course and dosage of Chinese herbal medicines should be paid attention to. Some medicines have little problem in short-term proper use, but long-term use may cause cumulative toxicity. Liver disease patients should go to a regular hospital for treatment, do not blindly use "folk folk prescriptions", "ancestral secret recipes" and so on, in order to avoid containing the ingredients of liver and kidney injury.
